The ancient city of Siedra
The ruins of Siedra are located 20 km from Alanya at the junction of Cilicia and Pamphylia, the historical regions of Asia Minor. It is believed that the city was founded in the 1st century. In the era of Antiquity, Siedra flourished, even minting its own coins here.
Reservoirs for reservoirs, a cobblestone street, a triumphal arch, part of the acropolis and an entire building with mosaic remains inside have survived to this day. In its heyday, there was a large port and brisk trade here, but after the capture of the southern coast by the Seljuks and then the Turks in the 13th century, Siedra was abandoned.
